Frequently Asked Questions

Which beam transporter types do you offer?

Four configurations:

  • Highway beam transporter — 80–300 t, 20–40 m girders, up to 8% gradient.
  • Articulated beam transporter — 80–200 t, 20–45 m girders, ±45° articulation for mountain roads.
  • Box girder transporter — 450–1,000 t, 24/32/40 m high-speed rail girders.
  • Multi-axle beam transporter — 100–1,500 t by modular combination, 20–50 m girders.
Which transporter fits my site?

Standard highway and bridge sites with prepared haul roads take the highway transporter. Mountain switchbacks and narrow temporary access roads need the articulated unit, which uses the girder itself as the chassis and turns inside an 18 m radius. High-speed rail box girders in the 450–1,000 t class call for the box girder transporter, and anything heavier or longer is handled by a modular multi-axle combination.

How does the transporter protect the girder during travel?

All models use hydraulic suspension with ±300 mm of active compensation, so the girder stays level while individual wheels follow uneven ground. Loaded travel speed is limited to 5–8 km/h and all-wheel steering keeps the trailer tracking the tractor path instead of cutting across the curve.

What gradient can a loaded transporter climb?

The highway transporter is rated for gradients up to 8% under full load; the articulated, box girder and multi-axle units are rated to 5%. Actual site capability also depends on surface grip and curve radius, so the haul route profile is checked before the axle configuration is fixed.

How sharp a curve can it negotiate?

The articulated unit reaches ±45° between tractor and trailer modules with a minimum inner turning radius of 18 m. Multi-axle and box girder units use electronic all-wheel Ackermann steering with a steering range of ±55° to ±110°, so long girders can be walked around site corners without slewing the load.

Can transporters be combined for heavier girders?

Yes. Axle lines are modular from 6 up to 64, and multiple transport units can be synchronized under one control system for loads beyond a single trailer's rating. Each combination is calculated for payload, axle load and gradient before delivery.

How is the transporter delivered and commissioned?

Axle lines, the power pack unit and the girder supports ship as separate modules, which keeps the heaviest single piece inside standard container or flat-rack limits. Assembly, steering calibration and a load test are completed on site before handover, and operator training is carried out on the actual machine.

Transporting massive concrete girders from the precast yard to the bridge erection site requires extreme power and stability. HSCRANE bridge beam transporters feature advanced hydraulic suspension systems, multi-mode steering, and robust chassis designs to handle uneven terrains and steep gradients safely. Seamlessly synchronized with our launching gantries, our transporters are the reliable backbone of your bridge logistics.
